The U.S. destination wedding market is projected to grow from $41.6 billion in 2025 to $47.85 billion in 2026, a 14.9 percent jump in a single year. Does the region have a real vacation-lodging stack? A wed-cation needs cabins, inns, boutique hotels, or rentals that can absorb 60 to 150 guests for three nights. If the region’s lodging is a single big-box hotel plus a handful of Airbnbs, the guest experience will collapse.

Do the daytime hours actually have something to do? The best wedcations run on Friday-afternoon activities that guests remember for years — a winery tasting, a hike, a boat, a museum, an orchard, a hot spring. If your target region has none of those, you are booking a wedding, not a wedcation.

Is the total per-guest cost real? A wedcation shifts more cost onto the guest than a single-night wedding — flights, three hotel nights, welcome dinner, wedding day, brunch. Do the math against your actual guest list before you commit, because the region that reads as affordable on a venue quote can be brutal on the guest side.
