For bigger or more modern rooms, look north of Calhoun Street. Upper King and the Neck have warehouse-scale spaces that take a real dance floor, a short ride from the historic district.

Wimberley, an hour out, suits 60 to 150 because its lodging is limited. Fredericksburg, an hour and forty-five minutes out, is the only Hill Country town that can entertain guests for three days.
Late March through April is wildflower season and the most contested, most expensive window, with October and early November the second peak. June through September is the cheapest stretch and venues negotiate, but an outdoor ceremony before 7 p.m. in July is difficult.
